SIMPLE GUIDE ON INSTALLING CAR MODS USING IMGTOOL.EXE
I made this simple guide, for those people with questions on how to install Car Mods. You can also try San Andreas Mod Installer or SAMI, it is a very good Modding Software too. It is easy to use and hassle free. But if you want to install manually, try following this guide Smile
Step one: Open up IMGtool. If you dont have one, get it here:
http://www.thegtaplace.com/downloads/f552-img-tool-20/Step two: Open it up and you should see something like this:
Step three: Now, you need to open your gta3.img located on your GTA San Andreas/models/gta3.img
After you have opened your gta3.img, you should see something like this:
Step four: Based on my experiences, it is best to find the Readme.txt located on the Folder or Compressed File((.zip or .rar, IF IT IS COMPRESSED, UNZIP OR UNRAR IT FIRST TO A SPECIFIC LOCATION OF YOUR PC!!)) of the MOD that you DOWNLOADED. So that you will have a GUIDE on how to install that Mod.
Something like this:Step five: After that, click Edit on the IMGtool menu bar then click Find(or press F2). After that, look up on the Readme.txt file on your MOD folder and see what file is asked to be found and click Find Text. After you click Find Text, that specific file will show up on the IMGtool. For mine, i used sultan.dff because that is what the Readme file asked.
Step six: Next is you need to REPLACE the file that you searched. You can do it by clicking the Command button on the menu bar and then click on REPLACE.
After you clicked on REPLACE, this window will appear:
Now you need to click on the FILE which is the same to what FILE you searched on the IMGtool. For example here, it is sultan.dff
NOTE: YOU NEED TO REPLACE ALL THE FILES THAT IS INSTRUCTED TO BE REPLACED BASED ON THE README.TXT
SOMETIMES ITS IS MORE THAT JUST ONE FILE, IT COULD INCLUDE .txd files
Step 7: After you have replaced all the .dff and .txd files on the IMGtool. DONT FORGET TO REBUILD IT. You can REBUILD it by clicking Command>Rebuild Archive on the IMGtool.
And as for the next steps, all you have to do is FOLLOW WHAT THE README.TXT says. But im pretty sure the next steps has something to do with editing something in GTA San Andreas\data\maps\veh_mods\veh_mods.ide and also something in GTA San Andreas\data\handling.cfg
Well that's about it for this simple guide. Hope this will help your modding ventures.
Goodluck!!
